A BUNGLING British Airways captain who wrongly activated the emergency slide was grounded seconds earlier than take-off.

His passengers have been strapped of their seats and waiting to go when he deployed the inflatable escape route.
Emergency providers rushed to Gate 24E at Heathrow as flight BA886 was leaving for Romania.
The captain was taken off flying duties instantly, while the passengers waited more than three hours before they left in one other aircraft with a unique pilot.

The pilot did not disarm the aircraft door when he opened it to move paperwork to floor crew.

The flight, scheduled to depart at 9.55am on Saturday, didn't depart till 1.15pm.
BA stated: "We apologised to clients and organized a alternative plane to ensure they have been capable of continue their journey."
