"The one and solely Cola Boyy a.okay.a Matthew Urango died passed peacefully final Sunday," the publish read.
"He was quite a soul, a man with no age, a childlike spirit with the musicality of an previous legend.
"His lyrics, his melodies, the sound of his voice: every aspect of his music was distinctive and timeless.
"We beloved him at Document Makers. We are sending all potential love to Matthew's family and to his numerous pals. His music and energy will stay."
Urango, the self-described "disabled disco innovator," was born with spinal bifida, scoliosis, and kyphosis.
The incapacity activist stated he needed to encourage others like himself to not be so depressed and indignant with themselves.
"I need to encourage other disabled individuals to not be so exhausting on themselves, to not be depressed and indignant," he advised NMW in 2021.
"I used to be so indignant, rising up, at others around me, and that didn't clear up my issues.
"That didn't make joyful. It made me just bitter. I need to encourage disabled those that they will do anything and that nothing can defeat them.
He began putting out music in 2018, releasing the extended play Black Boogie Enon that yr.
The EP featured the hit singles Penny Woman and Buggy Tip.
Penny Woman reached #72 in Fader Magazine's 100 greatest songs of 2018.
Urango's musical standing grew following the release of Black Boogie Enon, as he started touring with the rock band MGMT and Nicolas Godin, half of the Air French duo.
In 2020, Urango was featured on The Avalanches' single, We Go On, off the Australian digital group's third studio album, We Will All the time Love You.
The following yr, Urango released his debut album, Prosthetic Boombox, which included collaborations with The Avalanches, MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden, Godin, and John Carroll Kirby.
