New York Yankees rookie Jasson Domínguez entered Friday with two homers in 31 games on the season. He more than doubled that total against the Athletics, and made some history in the process. At 22 years and 91 days old, the former top prospect became the youngest player in the storied century-plus history of the Yankees to post a three-homer game. He not only went deep three times, he also did it from both sides of the plate and capped it off with his first career grand slam. He finished the game 3-for-4 with seven RBI ina 10-2 win. First career 2-homer game ✅First career 3-homer game ✅Jasson Domínguez is out of this world!pic.twitter.com/ssyNNOiTto — MLB (@MLB)May 10, 2025 Becoming the youngest Yankee to accomplish the feat is especially notable, given that Domínguez is outpacing the shadows of Hall of Famers like Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio. For reference, Aaron Judge split his age-22 season between Single-A and High-A. Domínguez began his night striking out swinging against A's starter Osvaldo Bido before getting his revenge with a solo homer in the third inning, then scored another run in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly. Against the A's bullpen, Domínguez got his second dinger against Hogan Harris then broke the game completely open with the grand slam in the eighth against Elvis Alvarado. And that's how you add nearly 100 points to your slugging percentage in one game. Domínguez began the game slashing .231/.328/.365 and exited it at .250/.339/.463. It was easily the best game of his young MLB career, showcasing the power that kept him on every top-100 prospect list for five years, from his time as a freshly signed teenage prospect to his days punishing Triple-A pitching. At 22 years old, Domínguez still has plenty of time to add to his game, but the raw power is clearly there already.

Murray and Porter lead the Nuggets to a 113-104 bounce-back win over the ThunderNew Foto - Murray and Porter lead the Nuggets to a 113-104 bounce-back win over the Thunder

DENVER (AP) — The Denver Nuggets knew bouncing back from their43-point losswould mean hanging with the tubro-charged, top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder so that they could tap into their experience, home environment and closing prowess. And that's exactly how they won Game 3 on Friday night, beating the Thunder 113-104 in overtime behind 27 points from Jamal Murray, 22 from Aaron Gordon and 21 from one-armed Michael Porter Jr., who had his best game since spraining his left shoulder in the first game of the playoffs. Just like in Game 1, which they stole on Gordon's 3-pointer at the end, the Nuggets trailed most of the night and led by no more than two points in regulation before going on an 11-2 run in the extra period when the high-flying Thunder cashed in on just one of their nine possessions. "I do believe late in games you can rely on what you've seen and felt and done," interim coach David Adelson said of the Nuggets, who are two years removed from an NBA title. The Nuggets took a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinal series despite an off-night from Nikola Jokic, who had eight turnovers and missed 17 of 25 shots, including all 10 of his 3-pointers. He finished with 20 points, 16 rebounds and six assists. "I mean, 20, 16 and six, what an awful NBA night," cracked Adelman. "I'm sure he's frustrated," Adelman added, "when you're so efficient, maybe arguably one of the most efficient players to ever play any sport. Yeah, I get it. I get why he's frustrated. But Game 4 is going to come and he's going to touch it a million times. Hope he shoots it all the time." Game 4 is Sunday at Ball Arena. Jokic started the overtime flourish with a finger-roll layup and the Nuggets never trailed again. "It's obviously lousy to lose," Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. "But you can take a lot away, and we want to be a team that's improving through the series. ... I thought we did a lot of good things -- did a lot of good things on (Jokic). It was a really hard-fought game by both teams. It wasn't an easy game for anybody." The other NBA MVP front-runner, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, also had a tough night, missing 15 of 22 shots, going 1 for 6 from deep and finishing with 18 points. Jalen Williams led OKC with 32 points and Chet Holmgren chipped in 18. It was tied at 102 after regulation, and both Gilgeous-Alexander and Jokic missed potential winners in the closing seconds of regulation. SGA missed a 12-foot jumper with 3 seconds left, and Joker missed a 19-footer at the buzzer. "Losses always sting, especially in the playoffs," Daigneault said. "But what I would say is we are in the process of becoming a great team, and we've checked a lot of boxes in that process. One thing that it takes to be a great team is you get taken to the limit in the playoffs, and you've got a rise to the challenges that you're confronted with." ___ AP NBA:https://apnews.com/hub/NBA

Connor Hellebuyck made 21 saves to help the Winnipeg Jets even their Western Conference semifinal series against the visiting Dallas Stars with a 4-0 win in Game 2 on Friday night. Hellebuyck, the front-runner to win a third Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goalie, has 49 shutouts in his career, including four in the postseason. "That's what he does every night for us," Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey said of Hellebuyck. "He's an incredible goaltender. He makes very difficult saves look very easy, routinely and often. You could tell he was feeling it tonight and when he's feeling it like that, it gives the players in front of him, defensemen, forwards, a lot of confidence." Game 3 in the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in Dallas. "It's a game we can build off of," Morrissey said. "There were a lot of good things out there. As everybody knows, momentum in the playoffs is in-game. I don't think it often carries over from game to game. So, we'll try to look at things we did well today. It will be a whole different animal going on the road here, but definitely a lot we can build on." Nikolaj Ehlers had two goals and an assist, Gabriel Vilardi and Adam Lowry also scored and Dylan DeMelo contributed two assists for the Jets, who won the Presidents' Trophy for the best record during the regular season. Jake Oettinger turned aside 21 shots for the Stars, who were coming off a 3-2 road victory in Game 1 on Wednesday. Tyler Seguin was called for a double-minor high-sticking penalty on Morrissey 17 seconds into the game, and Vilardi scored with 42 seconds left on the four-minor power play to give the Jets a 1-0 lead. Ehlers took a shot that clipped off Oettinger's skate, hit the post, came back and hit Oettinger's skate blade and was heading back toward the goal line when Vilardi pushed it across. Morrissey had missed Game 1 after sustaining an upper-body injury in Game 7 against the St. Louis Blues on Sunday. The Jets scored again when a centering pass by Ehlers went off the skate of Dallas defenseman Esa Lindell and redirected into his own net, giving Winnipeg a 2-0 lead at 7:07 of the first. "You start the game with a four-minute minor 10 seconds in," Dallas coach Peter DeBoer said. "They score on the power play and then one goes off our own skate and into the net. You're down 2-0 (7:07 into the game). That's a big hole in this rink. So, self-inflicted, the other kind of unlucky." The Jets extended the lead to 3-0 at 11:02 of the second. A shot from the right point by DeMelo was deflected wide and caromed off the end boards and out the other side. Lowry was there to sweep the puck into the net from the bottom of the left circle before Oettinger could slide over. Hellebuyck made two more Grade-A saves in the second period, a sprawling stop on Evgenii Dadonov at 14:16, followed by a left pad save on Jamie Benn off a rush at 15:32. "I thought we pushed hard in the second to try and climb back in the game," DeBoer said. "Hellebuyck made some saves. We get one there, maybe the momentum shifts, but that was the game." Hellebuyck led the NHL in wins (47), goals-against average (2.00) and shutouts (eight) during the regular season, and was second in save percentage (.925). However, he had struggled in the playoffs entering Game 2, owning a 4-4 mark, a 3.75 GAA and a .836 save percentage Ehlers scored into an empty net with 3:40 left to make it 4-0. --Field Level Media

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Angel City defender Savy King was stretchered off the field and taken to the hospital after what the team called a "medical event" during the team's match against the Utah Royals in the National Women's Soccer League on Friday night. Other players were visibly shaken as trainers rushed to King's side after she went down in the 74th minute. She was attended to for some 10 minutes before she was taken from the field on a cart. Angel City issued a statement that said King "was transported by EMS to the hospital following a medical event on the field. She is responsive and undergoing further evaluation. We thank everyone for their concern and support." After the match, both teams gathered in a circle at midfield in prayer for King. King, 20, was the second overall pick in the 2024 NWSL draft by expansion Bay FC and played 18 games for the club. She was traded to Angel City in February and has started in all eight games for the team this season. ___ AP soccer:https://apnews.com/hub/soccer
